Product

From the design process right through to the end product Peninsula Eyewear have been able to make our vision a reality.

We pride ourselves in using the best materials in the industry to offer our customers stylish, comfortable and protective sunglasses.

Peninsula Eyewear Sunglasses

We use Mazzucchelli acetate which is the world’s foremost producers of cellulose acetate for the eyewear industry.

For our lenses we have sourced Carl Zeiss sunlenses which offers high 100% UV protection.

Acetate

All of our frames are made from cellulose acetate.  This type of bioplastic derives from natural elements such as cotton and woodpulp.  The advantages to acetate from other plastic materials are:

    • Hypoallergenic which means it won’t react with your skin.
    • Lightweight making it easy to wear for long periods of time without sliding down your nose or becoming cumbersome or uncomfortable.
    • Vast colour options due to the way it can be dyed during the manufacture process. This yields endless colour and pattern options to suit many different styles and skin tones.
    • Can be transparent which other materials cannot achieve.
    • Adjustable With experience, opticians and frame makers like us have the ability to heat and manually adjust acetate glasses frames. In turn, they’re more comfortable for you to wear.

Acetate retains its color brightness impeccably over time because its hue is embedded in the material rather than sprayed on, which also prevents any color peeling. It contains unique aging stabilizers that prevent fading, yellowing or other discoloration from UV light or skin contact.

Lenses

Peninsula Eyewear sunglasses are fitted with CR-39 lenses manufactured by Carl Zeiss.  These sunlenses offer 100% UV/UVB protection, the back of the lenses are multi coated with an anti-reflective coating and the whole lens with a hard coating to prevent scratches.

Products and collection by ZEISS Sunlens

The advantages of having anti-reflective coating on the inside of the lens are to limit the amount of refelction distractions like, reflections of your eyes, eyelashes, the skin around your eyes, and even objects behind you.  By having the anti-reflection coating these distractions will be virtually eliminated, giving you the comfort and clarity you need from your lenses.

We have also decided to use green and blue lenses for our first collection.  These are their advantages:

Blue lens

Blue lenses are both fashion-savvy and practical for UV protection. While the blue tint enhances the contours around objects and improves colour perception, it also can have a calming effect on the eyes. Wear blue lenses to reduce glare during snowy conditions, while enjoying water sports, or enjoying sunny leisure activities. Whether you're out hitting the links on the golf course or enjoying a weekend on the snowy slopes, blue sunglass lenses will offer you several fashion and leisure benefits.

  • Perfect for spectator and golf
  • Reduces glare
  • Helps to see contours
  • Improves colour perception
  • Fashionable and cosmetically appealing
  • Good in misty, foggy, and snowy conditions.

Green lens

Green sunglass lenses can do what grey and brown lenses can do, but better! Sunglasses with green lenses provide better contrast than grey lenses and transmit colour accuracy better than brown lenses. Ideal for both sunny and low-light environments, green lenses have a way of reducing glare while brightening shadows. Perfect for water or field sports, cycling or skiing, these lenses protect and comfort your eyes on foggy, cloudy, or bright, sunshiny days.

  • Perfect for any outdoor activity, in rain or shine
  • Transmits all colours evenly
  • Good for general purpose use
  • Dims glare while brightening shadows
